KANU NWANKWO TO BUILD CARDIAC CENTRE

Driven by the need to stop the alarming rate of heart diseases especially among children and also reduce the cost of going abroad for treatment, retired top footballer and founder, The Kanu Heart Foundation (KHF) has revealed his plans to partner with successful heart specialists in India to build a cardiac centre for the treatment of heart diseases in the country. Kanu who announced that a public fund raising to support the project will commence in February 2012 disclosed that at least 250 open-heart surgeries will be done annually, while 12 year-old children will be given free treatment the cost of adults' will be subsidized. The maxism, "It isn't over, until it is over" best describes the case between actor cum comedian, Babatunde Omidina popularly called Babasuwe and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency. In a recent press conference, on November 14 to be precise, Bamidele Aturu, Counsel to Babasuwe avowed to fight the abuse of his client's fundamental rights by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency. During the interactive session, Babe Suwe affirmed that he had never been arrested for carrying drugs in Nigeria or outside Nigeria, "when I travel, I don't stay more than two weeks, which you can see on my passport." CHINUA ACHEBE DECLINES NATIONAL HONOUR AGAIN

Celebrated literary icon, Professor Chinua Achebe through a message to the Nigerian ambassador to the US, Professor Ade Adefuye has declined the Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) honour made by the Nigerian government.  According to Achebe who first rejected the offer in 2004, "The reasons for rejecting the offer when it was first made have not been addressed let alone solved.
