Victor Valdes’ wife slams Manchester United over charity dinner snub

She has a point though. Albeit, the former Barcelona goalkeeper has been frozen out of the Louis Van Gaal-led squad, ty he Spain international is still a player at the club and ought to be accorded respect given to other teammates. He was embarrassingly the only player to be omitted from the club’s UNICEF gala last night and this didn’t go down well with his wife Yolanda who voiced out her disappointment on her instagram page. “Do not invite to my husband @vicvaldes1 to be part of the #united4unicef, it’s the last thing you don’t expect from one of the biggest clubs as @manchesterunited. ‘A Charity event is always a Charity event’.” She fired. If Man United can sign a match-winner, they can be as good as Barcelona – Gary Neville

Ex Manchester United player, Gary Neville has implored the club’s current manager, Louis Van Gaal to take advantage of the January transfer window and strengthen the squad. The Old Trafford legend opined that The Red Devils are a couple of players away from winning the EPL title. He added that the club needs top-notch players like Barcelona’s Luis Suarez and Neymar or Real Madrid superstars, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale. Speaking after Manchester United’s clash with Leicester City, Neville said  “If you put two more players into Manchester United, that team could win the league. If you put two more players into Manchester United’s team, say a Gareth Bale or a Cristiano Ronaldo into that team, that team could win the league. Because the structure that is being built at this moment in time is solid. “But they need that match-winner, that Neymar, that Luis Suarez, the one that is going to light up a game and score one or two goals to take it away, then all of a sudden they would look like a Barcelona, because they’re dominating possession, making teams look foolish. “Even in the last 15 minutes, they didn’t fully commit to winning the game. “Historically, you would like to see punch after punch, you would want to see bodies being thrown forward, but you might get caught on the counter attack and lose 2-1...

The task ahead of you is not a mission impossible -Dele Momodu writes Buhari again.

Your Excellency, it’s been months since I wrote my desperate memo to you. I wish to thank you once more for reacting promptly and swiftly at that time and for giving me the honour and privilege of meeting you in your office. I remember presenting you a special compilation of my articles, especially the many admonitions to your immediate predecessor, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. After handing over the book to you, Sir, I promised to continue acting in my self-appointed capacity as Special Adviser because of the need to tell you what those very close to you might not be able to say. They might be afraid of you and your reaction. Dele Momodu The truth is you are a plain and simple man imbued with a mission and a passion to save this great country but you cannot do it on your own. You can only do it if people close to you, who should be advising you, tell you as it is so that you can do that which you were elected to do. Sir, it is on the above basis that I’m back today for reasons some of which you probably know already from your own personal observations and readings. But before I go further, kindly permit me to set some records straight before some conspiracy specialists step forward to ascribe other people’s opinion to me....

Abubabar Audu’s son speaks on his father’s last moments

A week after the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu passed on, his sixth son Mustapha Audu, has revealed details of how the popular politician passed on. In a recent interview with Daily Sun, Mustapha also dismissed insinuations that his father was poisoned.  “The truth about it is that my father was a very hard working man. Throughout the period of the campaign, he used to go to bed about 4-5am and by 7 or 8am, he was always up, travelling here and there, holding several meetings, taking no rest and eating no food. “This was a man who had ulcer and was hardly eating. This began to tell on him on the Friday night before his demise. He became weak even though he was a very strong man. We had advised him to go to hospital in Abuja but he said no, that the election was very important, very significant and that no one would vote for him by proxy. He said he had to be accredited to vote for himself and ensure that things went right. So we supported him. “But that night, he grew very weak. So we had to invite a doctor who quickly placed him on an infusion. On Saturday morning he felt better. And we said okay, let us delay going for accreditation since it would be...

Does President Muhammadu Buhari have a conscience? | By: Femi Fani-Kayode

”Aside the 105 soldiers killed by Boko Haram, additional 34 soldiers we killed two days ago but it wasn’t in the news”- Deji Adeyanju. I concur with Mr. Deji Adeyanju. The most heartless and reprehensible thing that our government could have done is to cover-up the fact that 105 of our soldiers were killed by Boko Haram a few days ago. To do such a thing is simply evil. A soldier ought to be honored in death and this is especially so if he dies in the course of doing his duty and fighting for his nation. The government has not only dishonored them by not acknowledging their sacrifice but they have also buried them in the wilderness like rabid dogs. This is wickedness of the highest order and President Buhari, his Chief of Army Staff and his Minister of Defense should bury their heads in shame. Anyone that buys the lie and propaganda that the 105 soldiers never died and that they are still alive is a compound fool or village idiot. Will the military also deny the fact that a few days ago 34 of our soldiers were killed by Boko Haram? These boys died for their country. Why deny them? I am outraged by the fact that a soldier will sacrifice his life for his country yet the citizens and authorities of that country don’t even...

Drogba is making controversial statements to sell his book – Mourinho

Week in Week Out, he grabs the headlines, I’m yet to see a football club manager who revels in the spotlight as Jose Mourinho does. The Chelsea manager has taken a jab at his former player, Didier Drogba, who launched his autobiography, ‘Committment’ recently. The Ivorian had claimed during an interview that the Chelsea dressing room was full of “big names, big players and big characters” during his time at the club. The Blues Manager said the Montreal Impact forward’s controversial quotes is a ploy to sell his books. “When you speak because you want to sell books, I don’t read. I don’t read. I like good interviews. I like interviews from big guys like Didier with good journalists, newspapers or television. But this is not an interview. It was to sell books. The Portuguese said, “It doesn’t disappoint me. It was just the reality. It was just to sell books. I can analyse Didier’s interview with pleasure, but not Didier selling...

Court Of Appeal nullifies David Mark’s election

A Court of Appeal sitting in Benue State today has nullified the election of former senate president, David Mark. Mark’s poll victory was challenged by The All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Benue South, Mr Donald Onjeh. Onjeh’s lawyer, Adetunji Oso, pointed out that the court made a grave error by declaring Senator Mark winner of the poll while the collation of results for the Benue South senatorial district’s election on March 28 was still ongoing in seven of the nine local government areas. The court has also ordered a re-run of the poll within 90...

Etcetera Says The Minister Of Petroleum Should Resign Immediately.

It is beginning to unfold how risky and dangerous it is for Nigeria that Buhari doubles as president and the petroleum minister. As the president, he already has too much on his plate with too many issues pulling the country towards collapse. From the north, Boko Haram is threatening to drag the whole country down a cliff, and if nothing is done pretty soon, we are going to have a situation in our hands with the Biafra movement. It is already a keg of gunpowder waiting to explode in our faces. The business of armed robbery has never been as lucrative as it is today. The economy is another area that calls for the president’s urgent attention. But what do we have? A president who has more-or-less assumed the role of a jack of all trade while doing nothing in particular. The president should resign as the minister of petroleum immediately if we are ever going to have sanity in the petroleum industry. What we need is a petroleum minister who is saddled with no other responsibility outside his ministry. Take for instance the negotiations with the petroleum marketers; it could have been better handled with more urgency knowing that the people are seriously suffering as a result of the slow pace of negotiations. I don’t understand how the president wants to be personally involved in negotiations with oil...

Short Story: Wonderland. | By VictorMaria

Swirling between mirages and reality Lost a glimpse of the truth Seems like it happened outside my head or inside Not sure which Bones weak to the marrow And I seem to enjoy every moment that passes I feel soft from the inside  Can’t clearly express this feeling Seem to be losing it I tend to have detailed reasoning on every wave of light I see My mouth feels somehow – can’t explain that My eyes wide open, sleepy but can’t sleep Feeling a sudden urge for something sugary or fruity I seem to hear my boom box beating louder than usual, even the flexible pumps I can feel and hear them breathing Also seems like I can hear some impossible decibel of waves Everywhere silent like a crypt….hold on Who says a crypt is silent? At least some bad-arse ghosts could be chilling off-grave and making some noise.  Anyway everywhere seems so silent….but all seems noisy… The ticking of my wrist watch that seems inaudible deep in my wardrobe Seems to be one of the factors of noise.. I think I can also hear my silent phone sounding like a gas leakage I feel some ounce of courage…very unusual ‘dutch courage’ After a long battle with reality My eyes take me to dreamland In my dream I get confused with reality. Series of funny dreams pass across my...
