The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC has warned Nigerians to beware of Maggi noodles produced by Nestlé India as they contain excess lead which can cause serious health problems. These noodles have been recalled from stores across India since June 2015 after a report by the Indian Food Safety Regulators of probable lead contamination which caused 143,000 deaths.

Store keepers, wholesalers and retailers in Nigeria have however been advised to employ proactive measures geared at stopping the consumption of the product. The public too has been urged to desist from buying or using them.
