Now back to his country, Menendez told Clarin newspaper through his brother. ‘Thank you Messi, mentioning your name saved my life.’  Credit: UK...

30-day appraisal: PDP replies Presidency

I hope this doesn’t turn to a nasty series. National Publicity Secretary of The People’s Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh has responded to President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina’s claims that the President is cleaning the mess the opposition party left behind. In a press statement released by the party, Metuh said the President rather than tackle the confrontations head-on descended to abuses and insults. “The PDP and indeed all well-meaning Nigerians were appalled by the response from the Presidency regarding our call for prayers to enable President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC administration locate its bearing, compose a government and halt the prevailing stagnation with its huge negative impact on the system. “Instead of addressing the issues raised, the Presidency descended to insults, abuses and innuendos, a stance which not only bears out the case made by the PDP but also raises questions about the capacity of this administration to shoulder the enormous responsibility of governance. “While we expect the present administration to be serious about the fight against corruption, probe and persecute each and everyone involved in such, irrespective of their party leaning, we restate that these must be done within the ambits of the law and must not be used as a witch-hunt ostensibly to discredit and undermine the opposition. “We therefore caution against the current drama of politicizing the issue of corruption in...

“PDP has a long road of regrets to travel” – Femi Adesina ‎

Femi Adesina, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari has noted with consternation the remarks made by the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh after its 30-day appraisal of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration as leader of Nigeria. Metuh had said that the administration is finding it difficult to locate its bearing not to think of taking off and facing the challenges of governance. “We urge Nigerians to join hands in prayers and offer useful suggestions to President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC because with what we have seen in the last 30 days, the present administration is finding it very difficult to get its bearings right while showing no inclination towards implementing its numerous campaign promises for which they were voted into office at the center. “We are deeply worried that the President who promised to unveil his cabinet two weeks after his inauguration, has not been able to decide on key appointments such as ministers, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), a Chief of Staff and advisers in key sectors of the economy. “This is more so as the delay has brought government business in ministries, departments and agencies to a dangerous standstill with coordination of important policies vested on ministers and the SGF now in tatters while the system drifts. This situation also creates loopholes through which overzealous...

Multiple award winning act, David ‘Davido’ Adeleke is on the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)’s radar for showcasing hard drugs in the video of his new song ‘Fans mi’ featuring American rapper, Meek Mills. The part that might get the hardworking artiste into trouble in the video was where he and his business partners were discussing over a briefcase of dollars and a bag full of hard drugs. Some fans and the NDLEA found it a bit offensive. NDLEA’s Head of Public Affairs, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju noted. “The agency considers the musical video ‘Fans Mi’ inappropriate and indecent. It has the tendency to negatively influence and induce drug use and trafficking. Besides, it is counter-productive on the campaign against drug production, trafficking and abuse.
