35 years after it was closed down and turned into lecture halls,
Britain’s first cinema has flickered back to life.
The Cinema in the 80s
Situated at the Regent Street in Central London, the first cinema was the first place to show a film in the UK, the Lumiere brothers’ Cinematographer ‎in 1896.
A whooping £6million was spent on its refurbishment. The 119 year-old cinema has been rebuilt in an art-deco style by architect Tim Ronalds and it will introduce audiences to moving pictures.
