I’ve been offered a slave contract. – Keshi

So Stephen Keshi has accepted a new contract by the NFF, I thought he said he’s no more interested in handling the squad?  ‎ Anyways, the ex Nigeria international is far from pleased with the new offer. Oath-taking claims: A desperate act by an ailing spokesperson- APC

The All Progressives Congress has branded the recent claim by Femi Fani-Kayode/Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation, that former Lagos State Governor and APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is scheming to seize power from the President after polls, untrue and nauseating. Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP-PCO, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode at a news conference in Abuja on Friday said, “It should baffle well-meaning Nigerians why Tinubu has decided to draft Buhari, despite his age, acrimonious background and questionable health status, into the presidential race whilst ensuring that his stooge, Prof Osinbajo, was foisted on the general as vice presidential candidate. “The reason is that the PDP-PCO wishes to use this forum to expose the ungodly plan by Tinubu to seize the presidency of Nigeria by subterfuge. You will recall how Tinubu wanted to be running mate to Buhari in spite of the nationwide resentment for Muslim-Muslim ticket that he and Buhari planned to foist on their party. “Senator Tinubu had justified the ticket by saying that competence was the important thing and not the issue of religion. But when he and Buhari could not push through the agenda within the APC, he (Tinubu), after being given the opportunity to nominate a vice presidential candidate, decided to prop up his stooge in the person of Prof. Osinbajo. “Now the real reason Tinubu nominated Osinbajo has been made known to...

Etcetera shades Wizkid, Genevieve, Oritsefemi in new article

Again, I’m going to go out on a limb here to talk on a subject that may not be very popular or nice to Nigerian celebs, especially the guilty ones. I have said it severally that just because someone is a celebrity doesn’t mean they are smart. They may have a talent or skill but many of them are not smart especially when it involves their finances. The old saying, “your lies will come back to haunt you” has never been more true than the recent cases of D’banj, Iyanya and Wizkid who are being kicked out of their homes after lying they owned the properties. The residents of blogosphere boulevard were stunned when the news broke that D’banj got an eviction notice from his landlord and was also said to be highly indebted. ‎ Yes, it is hard to believe that someone of D’banj’s status could actually be thrown out of his house. But for those who know that the Nigerian entertainment industry is built on lies and more lies, it didn’t come as a surprise or a case of a cranky landlord. Entertainers are well rehearsed liars. They are not what they make you believe they are. Even the upcoming artiste with just one song on radio issues a press release that they’ve bought a mansion in Lekki Phase One and a Range Sport SUV? There was...

Imagine your son getting this haircut for misbehaving at the barber’s shop.

Funny one! They call this the old man haircut or Benjamin Button Special. Russell Fredrick, co-owner of A-1 Kutz, a US-based barbing salon came up with the idea after efforts to make his 12 year-old son study and behave well in school proved abortive.  The young dude’s behaviour and grades improved excellently weeks after he threatened to give him the “balding” haircut.‎ A mother brought his 10 year old son to the salon afterwards. Fredrick told The Washington Post, “I hope that most people won’t have to do this unless it’s an extreme circumstance and nothing else works. There are a few people that are saying it’s emotional abuse; but on average, everyone is applauding the mother that brought the child in — and applauding me as well.” Credit:...

“Buhari didn’t tell his foreign audience how much he loves Boko Haram.” Femi Fani-kayode

Almost every member of the APC Campaign Organsiation is on this man’s case. Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose’s grievances have been registered. Next on the line is spokesperson of the PDP Presidential Campaign group, Femi Fani-Kayode. Below are his thoughts on General Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to the Chatham House UK. ‎ “We wonder whether General Buhari told his foreign audience whilst he was in London how much he loves Boko Haram. We wonder whether he told his audience that he once said that he believed that an attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the north and that the Boko Haram terrorists should be appeased, pampered, resettled and paid allowances.  We wonder if he told them that he was once nominated by Boko Haram to be their spokesman and representative during proposed negotiations with the Federal Government” “For now, all we can say is that it is truly pitiful that a former Head of State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria believes that it is more important to win the hearts and minds of the British than it is to win the hearts and minds of the Nigerian people.  General Buhari can run to any foreign country in the world to say anything that he likes but at the end of the day the decision as to who will lead Nigeria as from May 29th this year will...

Short Story: Moving | By: Victor Olugbemiro

… Daddy had been living in Lagos for the past four years and he felt it was time for his family to be with him. The journey was to be a road trip and the excitement in the air was almost tangible. The whole family shifted into preparation mode but with distinct concerns. Daddy was constantly at the mechanic workshop to ensure that the car was in good condition for the journey. Mummy had more important things on her mind, like deciding what will be taken or left behind, and stocking the store with enough food to last a few weeks before we (more like Daddy) will send money to Aunty and Sina who were not going with us.  Sina wasn’t going because he had to sit for his Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, and Aunty wasn’t going because she wasn’t going. Olamide was concerned with what only she knew, and me? I was concerned with what everyone was concerned about. Sometimes I went with Daddy to the mechanic, and sometimes I stayed at home to help Mummy. At other times, I simply went out to play and enjoy the attention of my friends. We had discussions on what Lagos was like and sometimes this degenerated into arguments over ridiculous things such as the sizes of buildings, the number of cars and all such irrelevancies that would fascinate only 10...

Chelsea FC warns fans ahead of League Cup final

Chelsea Football Club has issued a strong note of warning to its supporters about anti-semitic abuse ahead of the League Cup final which comes up on Sunday. This is coming a week after 3 of their fans were caught pushing a black man off a Paris Metro train before the UEFA Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain and also allegedly chanted racist songs at London St Pancras station after the game in Paris last Tuesday. A statement on the club’s official website reads: “After consultation between the Metropolitan Police and both clubs, we would like to remind supporters of their responsibilities on the day. For a small minority, this game has historically brought a deeply unpleasant and unwanted level of anti-Semitic abuse, which has no place in football or anywhere in society. As such, we urge everyone to keep their support positive. ‎ “Opposition supporters using terms as a form of identity is no excuse for abusive chanting or behaviour. The club asks that all supporters realise such actions cause huge offence to those around them. “If we receive evidence that supporters have engaged in anti-Semitic or any other form of discriminatory chanting or behaviour, we will take the strongest possible action, including supporting criminal prosecution. “Recent events in Paris have seen Chelsea fans united in their contempt for a mindless few. Chelsea is proud of the diversity within our club...

“If elected president, the world will not worry about Nigeria”. Read Buhari ‘s full speech at Chatham House, UK.

The lecture was titled: Prospects for Democratic Consolidation in Africa: Nigeria’s Transition ‎ Permit me to start by thanking Chatham House for the invitation to talk about this important topic at this crucial time. When speaking about Nigeria overseas, I normally prefer to be my country’s public relations and marketing officer, extolling her virtues and hoping to attract investments and tourists. But as we all know, Nigeria is now battling with many challenges, and if I refer to them, I do so only to impress on our friends in the United Kingdom that we are quite aware of our shortcomings and are doing our best to address them. The 2015 general election in Nigeria is generating a lot of interests within and outside the country. This is understandable. Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country and largest economy, is at a defining moment, a moment that has great implications beyond the democratic project and beyond the borders of my dear country. So let me say upfront that the global interest in Nigeria’s landmark election is not misplaced at all and indeed should be commended; for this is an election that has serious import for the world. I urge the international community to continue to focus on Nigeria at this very critical moment. Given increasing global linkages, it is in our collective interests that the postponed elections should hold on the rescheduled...

Suarez wants the English press to show him some respect.

Stories/footages of Uruguayan forward, Luis Suarez allegedly  trying to bite Demichelis during the UCL game between Barcelona and Man City two days ago2-1 have surfaced online. ‎Despite this new development, neither Demichelis nor the club are interested in pressing charges. Infact, no accusations have been officially made from the Etihad quarters. Recall that Suarez who stole the show and provided two of the 3 goals scored during the match has been suspended on three occasions for biting opponents. The Barcelona striker while vehemently denying the claims slammed the British press of blowing the matter out of proportion.  ‘He Demichelis put his hand on my throat. I do not‎ understand why the English media want to do this. They want to make trouble – a mountain out of a molehill.’ They must be hurt after what I did to them in the World Cup but they forget that I played in England and they should show me some respect.’ He told ‎Uruguayan radio station...

Ekiti Election Rigging Tape: Prof Wole Soyinka calls on INEC, EFCC, ICPC for probe.

In an article titled: The Silver Lining in the Cloud of Postponement. Accomplished writer, Professor Wole Soyinka has called on anti-corruption agencies – the EFCC and the ICPC to dig deep into the Ekiti State election rigging tape which was exposed by a military intelligence officer several weeks ago. Read his article below. The “Advertorial” – full front page of a newspaper ” Feb 23, 2015 – sponsored by Mr. Ayo Fayose (aka “No Apology”) deserves to succeed in its aim of putting an end to all dispute surrounding the Ekiti elections of June 21, 2014. After all, its entire page is dedicated to a Press Statement from the US Department of State, which purportedly endorses the results of that election, congratulates the electoral organization, the winner/loser duo, not forgetting the security forces – all for their laudable contributions. The release could not be timelier, what with the governor’s own exhortations on the virtues of credibility, avoidance of violence, and its special appeal to “ALL THOSE WHO HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE”. It is that last item in the advertisement to which I am especially drawn, in view of an audio recording that has now become the latest marvel of democratic exposes, internationally. For those who have nothing to hide, disrobing lies and forgeries and reinforcing truth is regarded as part and parcel of the obligations we owe democracy. The...

Former Super Eagles handler, Stephen Keshi has accused the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) if misleading Nigerians even after he turned down a new contract from them. The ex international who has been out of contract since the Eagles crashed out of the 2014 World Cup also missed an opportunity to manage Burkina Faso’s team. He told reporters he and his agent never received contract terms from the NFF. “How come he is turning around to say he is offering me a new contract, and that I’m the one stalling. I’ve told them I don’t want the job. I’m tired of coaching and being surrounded by people who don’t want me in the job.” He stated. Keshi also denied being paid outstanding salaries. “I heard also Amaju said he has paid us everything, that he is not owing us. It is a lie, big-time lie. He is owing us two months plus our winning bonus for the game against Sudan. What is he talking about? Because I am keeping quiet, I don’t want to talk? Now if they want me to talk, I will start talking and let Nigerians know what is happening. He continued, ‎”I don’t understand, how can Amaju, who says he is the president of Nigerian football, be lying to Nigerians? Is that how he wants to run Nigeria Football? Opinion: Chill out, Angel Di Maria is far from a flop

Most of you can probably still remember the exact moment you heard Ángel Di María had signed for Manchester United. To the amazement of the footballing world Ángel Di María, Real Madrid and Argentina superstar had signed for a club not playing in the Champions League this season. Wow. Such is their pull and financial muscle that the Old Trafford giants had lured the Man of the Match from last season’s Champions League final to make the move to the Premier League. He was the engine that drove the Galacticos to La Decima, at long last. Behind all of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale’s brilliance was the Argentine, whose move into central midfield led to seven goals and 22 assists in La Liga and the Champions League (the most assists in any top division in Europe). His signing was a game changer, a seismic shift in the power struggle amongst the world’s most lucrative domestic competition. It was the beginning of a bright new era for United, with Di María anointed Luis Suarez’s successor as “the guy” in the Premier League. It’s not panned out exactly like that quite yet. But you can see now why expectations were so high. After a fast start at the club Di María hit the ground running, capped off by a sensational chipped finish away to Leicester. Injury curtailed his bright start, and inconsistency on the whole can...

The wedding took place on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Rudding Park in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, UK. Record for the wedding with the most bridesmaids was previously set in November 2013 in Sri Lanka by Champika Shirani Siriwardana, with 126 while that of the most ushers at a wedding was 47 and it was set by Arulanantham Suresh Joachim in September 2003 in Canada. ‎ They saw a competition on Facebook run by bridal shop owner, who was looking to pull off a record-breaking wedding and wanted a couple to take part. ‎ To make this a success, Amy invited all her girlfriends across the globe. Her husband informed his rugby player friends. All the items used at the wedding was donated by local companies – including 130 identical bridesmaid dresses worth £35,000 and suits worth £13,000 “I wouldn’t say I had to convince Amy but I hadn’t known her long. When we entered the competition we weren’t even engaged. We knew we had to take the opportunity. There is no way with kids we would have been able to afford this ourselves. This had made our dreams come true. The fact we can have everyone there is amazing.” The groom said. The couple have 4...
