Former Manchester United coach, David Moyes allegedly attacks man who taunted him in a wine bar.

2014 has not been a good year for former Manchester United coach, David Moyes. Less than a month, after he was relieved of his job at Old Trafford, the 51 is to be interrogated by the police for allegedly beating up a man who taunted him in a wine bar at Lancashire yesterday. Hell hath no fury like an ex-Manager scorned! According to eye-witnesses; Moyes and his friends walked into a wine bar around 10pm, a couple of drinkers saw him and hurled insults at him. He reportedly lost his cool when a guy named Joshua Gillibrand told him he was shit and has never won anything. A scuffle ensued afterwards, Moyes reportedly threw him across the table, grabbed a bottle from a table and hit him on one side of the head. He was later restrained and taken away by his friends. The 23 year-old victim spoke to The Sun: ‘He grabbed me around the neck and struck me on the back of the head. I ended up face down on the floor. I felt I was going to die. There were tables flying everywhere and glass all over the place.’ Another eye-witness confirmed that, “Moyes had completely lost it and was bright purple in the face and quite clearly out of control. No one could quite believe what had happened. We were stunned. He’s obviously had enough...

Short Story: Last Card | By: Ololade Olatunji

Yetunde placed her palms across her face and wiped the tears down. She wailed, scattered her bedsheet and flung everything on it. She had just called her father for the balance of her school fees, his reply still echoed in her ears, “I have tried all my best, nothing is forthcoming. See if you can borrow it somewhere I will pay back”. Where was she going to get N150, 000 from? Who would borrow her that kind of money knowing it’s just two weeks to the final exams at the State University. She stood up from the bed, sat on the carpeted floor and stared at the large poster of Beyonce occupying one of the walls. Her gaze shifted to her framed Matriculation picture on the reading desk. “Yetty baby, how far na”. Her only roommate Amarachi entered. She wore a yellow tank top over a three-quarter pair of jeans. “I’m fine‘ she replied, still looking at the picture Amarachi dropped her bag on her bed and sat down to unbuckle her wedge sandals. “If you see wetin happen for library today, na so….‘ She stopped after noticing her red eyeballs “What is it again?” Is it your school fees? She nodded in the affirmative. “Just called my father, he said I should go and borrow. Last week, he confidently told me the money would be ready today. Today...

“Ivory Coast will always let you down, Nigeria will go furthest”- Emmanuel Adebayor offers insight into African teams ahead of Brazil 2014

Togolese international, Emmanuel Adebayor has offered an insight into some of the African teams who will represent their countries at the 2014 World Cup. Speaking to Daily Express, the former Manchester City player started with Ivory Coast which boasts of fantastic players like Didier Drogba and Yaya Toure, but his analysis of the team was a bit harsh. “I never trust them. They are the country that will always let you down. I know all of them from the bench to the manager. Sabri Lamouchi their coach is my very good friend. How come for the last four or five years have they not won the African Cup of Nations? They have got the best striker in Europe in Didier Drogba. They have got the best midfielder today, Yaya Toure. You’ve got one of the best strikers in the league today, the one that plays at Swansea, Wilfried Bony. You have all of those players. “But the thing is, are they going to be collective enough? I don’t know. I am not an Ivorian. They will be talking, laughing and enjoying themselves but when the time comes, they will forget about their job. There’s no togetherness. Everyone wants to be the hero. Everybody wants to be the one to finish on a high so the folks remember them for what I have done, not for what we have done...

Why can’t Nigerians see Half of a Yellow Sun? | By: Biyi Bandele.

When I heard last month that the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board, headquartered in Abuja, had indicated that it would be unable to issue certification for “Half of a Yellow Sun” in time for the film’s release date, I naturally assumed, at first, that what we were faced with was nothing more sinister than another instance of the typical, if frustrating, culture of wilful incompetence that we’d grappled with during the making of the film. While shooting the film in Nigeria two years ago, there were times when we felt ensnared in impenetrable jungles of red tape, when we would be given the go-head by one arm of the government only to find our path blocked by the other arm. I had no reason to assume that there might be anything more to it than that. I had no reason to assume, for instance, that the inability of the board to issue the film with a certificate might actually be a clumsy, heavy-handed ban in all but name. After all, when the movie had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last autumn, amongst the entourage of Nigerians who flew in to Toronto for the occasion was Patricia Bala, director-general of the Nigerian censorship board. Bala had arrived in Toronto — I was told — with several of her colleagues from the censor’s office. I know...

Not Again! Samuel Eto’o fires another parting shot at Jose Mourinho

Let’s face it! Jose Mourinho’s “age” comment about Samuel Eto’o really hit the striker below the belt. Less than a week after branding the Portuguese a fool, the Cameroonian has fired another parting shot at Chelsea Manager, Jose Mourinho. The message isn’t really different from the previous one, the four-time African Player of the Year has just decided to change the superlative. “Contrary to what a puppet says about my age, I am still physically fit. At 33, I feel really good. I have proven that I can do better than the younger players. And I wish to also say that I am not going to the United States or to the Middle East. I will continue at the top level. I will continue to play the Champions League. The ex-Inter Milan player continued, “My romance with this competition is far from over. I will not tell you where, but I will be at the top level. I am 33 and I have two World Cups to play. There are other players who went on until the age of 41 so there is no reason why I cannot...

This divorce settlement is the most expensive in history.

So much for going their separate ways! A Russian billionaire, Dmitry Rybolovlev has been asked by a Swiss Court to pay a “super-whooping” sum of $4.5 billion to his ex-wife, Elena Rybolovleva. I just tried to calculate that in naira and honestly the result is really deceiving me. Ranked 147th on Forbes list of billionaires and with a fortune of $8.8 billion, Fertilizer king as he’s fondly called also owns French soccer club, AS Monaco. Well, he is expected to make an appeal within 30 days. The couple got married for 27 years, have two daughters, the ex-wife also gets custody of their 13-year-old. Marc Bonnant, Elena’s lawyer called it “the most expensive divorce in history”. Two other lawyers in the case, Corinne Corminboeuf Harari and Caroline Schumacher, termed it “a complete victory” for her, adding that under Swiss law she’s entitled to half the fortune he made during their...

Guys Aint Smiling!!! 5 Things Nigerian Women Do That Really Annoy Nigerian Men.

Nigerian women too dey form. Yes, there are certain things men do that really bother women, but ladies, here’s what you people do that really annoys us. (1). When you tell us what qualities you like in a man, but the men you date are entirely different than what you claim you want. This is frustrating. Any woman will tell you what they want in a man. However, their response is usually bullshit. Instead, they tell you what is socially acceptable to want. So many women get involved with men who make them unhappy for various and obvious reasons. For example, many women date men who are jerks. However, you’ll probably never meet a woman who will tell you how much they love men who treat them poorly, because it is not socially acceptable to want to be with someone like that. Some women may justify their interest in “jerkish” men by indicating that being treated poorly somehow makes the man seem like a “badass”. However, after a breakup, the same women will typically whine and complain about how there is a lack of good men in existence after dealing with these terrible men. In this case, the problem isn’t the man so much as it is a woman’s poor taste/judgment of men. Don’t get me wrong. I know terrible men exist, but every woman has the common sense and the...

Photo of the day: I can’t babysit

LoL! Who does this? If I were to read the expression on this guy’s face. The baby must have disturbed him so much that the only thing he resorted to was to tape him against the wall. Engrossed with his ipad, he can’t be bothered about whatever happens to him. Looks like the baby’s saying, “Hey, if you don’t want me to cry, please maintain your position, I’m also reading from here.” Can’t imagine the tapes coming off. Thank God for women. Only mothers from the pit of hell would do...
