CHELSEA SWITCH: SAMUEL ETO’O EATS WORD

Talk about making people eat their words. Ermmm, It seems groundnut business in Samuel Eto'o's village is really dwindling and the 32 year-old striker can't save it. Sometime 2004, when the going was really good in Barcelona, the most decorated African player of all time made a quote during one of the unending rows between Barcelona and Chelsea. "I'd rather sell groundnuts in my village than to play for a pathetic team like Chelsea." Well, he penned a one year deal with the "pathetic" club two days ago. Best of luck...

NIGERIA’S SUNDAY MBA CREATES NEW RECORD

To me it's a new record, to you, it might not mean anything, it all depends on the way we see things. Sunday Mba, the Nigerian player who became more famous after his two decisive goals ushered Nigeria into the African Nations Cup victory early this has moved to greener pastures. The 24-year-old left his Worri Wolves club for french team, CA Bastia in a one-year deal worth 1.35m dollars. Now to my main point, that's the first time a player has moved directly from the Nigerian League to a foreign club for over one million...

THE ASUU FESTIVAL

It is bad enough that the Nigerian educational system is buried deep in themurky water of ignoble failure with no hope of redemption, also it is something more than a stigma for an academic circle of school administration to drag on a snail pace which has been recycled too much for comfort, while those steering the wheel of power close up their heart and lock their ears from the right which is meant to be disbursed withouthesitation. One day, this strike craze will stop! I can't help but juggle the indecision between the Federal Government and Academic Staff Union of Universities. The strike has become something close to an annual ceremony year in year out. Are both parties being indecisive? Or OUR government cannot simply meet their demands? The answers to those questions are strategically embedded in the problems that are seen.ASUU has clearly rejected Federal Government's offers and strike stillcontinues. The disagreement is not hidden, ASUU is fighting for what isright and it is better now than never. The strike has become a frequent dose dished to the Federal Government which is taken for granted. In the year 2009, the union insisted that based on the 2009 ASUU/FGN agreement and the January 2012 Memorandum of Understanding, MOU, signed by both parties, what was due for 2012 and 2013 was N500 billion, not N100 billion. Clearlythe matter has not...

Former Anzhi Makhachkala striker, Samuel Eto'O has reunited with his ex intermilan boss, Jose Mourinho. The 32-year-old has signed a one-year deal at Stamford Bridge. A MESSAGE FROM MERCY JOHNSON’S HEART

It's the superstar's 29th birthday. Mercy Johnson-Okojie has a special message for everyone, especially those who have meaningful/special plans to help street kids. Read On! Today, I thought of many things I would love to have as birthday gifts and the many dreams I am still pursuing. In all of this I'm not losing sight of the fact that if not for God I might have ended up on the street like the many kids and young adults begging for food and some prostituting to make ends meet.If we know the circumstances that force some of these people on the street, we would spare a thought for them. I am where I am today purely by the grace of God and the grace of people who believed in me from the word go.Recently, I was at the Boys Reform Home, Oregun, Lagos, the discussion I had with the principal Mr. Kotun and much later with the Special Adviser in charge of allremand homes in Lagos set me thinking about the boys and girls on the street. They have dreams too. Can they fulfill those dreams on the street? The answer will likely be no; because I won't be where I am today if I ended up on the street. For this reason, Mercy Johnson Foundation will be doing a lot to get kids off the street. We are not...
